Concept Model
With a unique spherical design,
our omnidirectional multicopter
expands the possible application of drones
by adapting to diverse environments.
HAGAMOSphere™ is a spherical drone
with eight propellers mounted on a cubic frame,
allowing it to move both horizontally and vertically
while maintaining balance.
It is also designed to rotate on the ground by housing itself
inside a geometrically shaped sphere guard.
This new type of multicopter drone created
by DIC is expected to play an active role
in a wide variety of scenarios.
HAGAMOSphere™ maintains its balance
while in motion using a unique algorithm
that controls the rotation of the eight propellers.
A geometrically shaped spherical guard allows HAGAMOSphere™
to roll on the ground and move by itself.
It supports applications on land and in the air and is expected
to expand the range of fields where drones can be used.

Prototype
A collaboration between business
and academia,
with DIC at the helm.
HAGAMOSphere™ is being developed under the leadership
of DIC, a chemical manufacturer
with global operations
in more than 60 countries and regions across the globe.
The project also collaborates with Associate Professor
Masashi Miwa of the University of
Tokushima,
a national university that engages in multicopter research.
Furthermore, Hishida R&D Co., Ltd., a company specializing
in drone development and
customization,
has built a prototype and is conducting field tests
to improve the quality of vertical
and horizontal flight and
rotational movements on the ground.
DIC, while overseeing the project, is selecting materials,
designing structures for mass production,
and running flight
simulations using computer-aided engineering (CAE)
with commercialization
as the ultimate goal.
